Reducing the Appearance of Cellulite

Reducing the Appearance of Cellulite

Cellulite is a very common “flaw” that many women and even men feel self-conscious about. While it is a completely natural and normal thing that poses no health threat to us, it can be aesthetically displeasing and many of us want to get rid of it.

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is a type of fat tissue that causes the flesh to look lumpy or dimpled. It is the structure of the fat that causes it to look this way. It isn’t a condition or a disease, it’s simply a type of tissue that most of our bodies have. Most women deal with it at some point in their life and about ten percent of men have it. Our genetics play a large role in whether or not we have it or will develop it in the future, which means that completely eliminating it may not be possible for all. In fact, that is why this article is about reducing the appearance of cellulite, not eliminating. Most of us simply won’t be able to completely remove it. However, keep reading to learn how you can greatly improve the appearance.

How can I reduce the appearance?

As we mentioned previously, cellulite is a type of fat. In individuals who are overweight or obese, losing weight to become a healthy BMI should be the first thing on their list to getting rid of cellulite. This will also improve your overall health and quality of life. If you are already at a healthy BMI, then you shouldn’t focus on losing weight in order to achieve your goals as this won’t be very beneficial to your health or to your journey of getting rid of cellulite. You will lose weight but it is likely that your body fat percentage will stay the same. Instead of focusing on diet, focus on exercise. Not only exercise in general, but more specifically strength training or muscle building.

Ladies, don’t worry. We don’t mean you have to bulk up to get rid of your cellulite. Weight training won’t cause you to bulk up. You can use weight training to simply tone and shape your body the way you wish. You really have to be trying in order to get bulky so calm down. Also, keep in mind that weight training doesn’t necessarily mean lifting fifty-pound weights. Simply do a few weight training sessions a week using five to ten-pound dumbells to start. When those start to feel easy and are no longer a challenge, you aren’t gaining muscle anymore so if you wish to get further results, go up in either weight or repetition. If you are satisfied with your results simply continue with what you are doing in order to maintain.

There are also some things you can do topically that may help. The obvious answer you may have been waiting for is surgery. There are lasers and liposuction, both of which can help cellulite but that doesn’t mean it is guaranteed and it doesn’t mean it will stay that way. It is an expensive and very personal decision and you should try at home methods before making such a life-changing decision. Next is topical products. Some people have had success using retinol creams, this is something you usually need a prescription for and should talk with your doctor about if you are interested. Most popular though are the creams and scrubs you can buy online. The idea behind how these products work is that they improve blood flow to the area (in natural products they tend to use caffeine in order to achieve this result) and help to firm and tighten the skin. There are also products such as rollers or body brushes that are intended to work in the same manner.

The most effective way would be to use a mixture of the above. First, you want to treat from the inside out with diet and exercise. Then you treat the skin by keeping it healthy, which will, in turn, keep it firm and toned. With all of this combined, you should see a major improvement. Don’t underestimate the amount of improvement you can see with good skin care. To learn more about skin care and what you can do go to Facingacne
